Of the many leisure sport activities today, fishing is perhaps the most relaxing and popular. Although it can be done anywhere - in the sea, a flowing stream or river, lake fishing is the favorite option with most anglers. Lake fishing can be done in two ways - boat fishing and fishing from shore. Both these options for lake fishing involve different techniques.

Fishing from a boat - is extremely effective and relaxing among the two lake fishing options. Casting, forward and back-trolling, employing down riggers and drift fishing are some of the techniques used for boat fishing. Although different techniques work better for different types of fish, trolling is the most popular technique anglers choose while fishing off a boat. Trolling is when the boat moves forward slowly, pulling a single lure or several lures behind it. Back trolling and forward trolling are more or less the same, however, the difference between the two is that in back trolling, the boat moves in reverse and considerably slower in speed.

Trolling motors are fitted to most boats, and because of their near-silent nature, anglers are able to traverse the lake silently and slowly without perturbing the fish. Anglers find it more convenient to cast lures in places most likely to have more fish present when using boats fitted with trolling motors. Lake fishing off a boat is a great way to catch fish; however, as hiring a boat is an expensive proposition, try hiring a pontoon boat or inflatable kayak instead. These are not only cheaper than traditional boats; they are also just as effective.

Fishing from the shore - is what most anglers prefer to do, as it saves a lot of money on hiring or buying a boat. Among the different techniques used for fishing from shorelines, the most popular one is ?still fishing?. This is a technique in which the Fishing line is rigged with a sinker, hook/s with bait attached, and a stopper (floater). The stopper is situated on the line above the sinker and hook/s to prevent the sinker from descending to the bait. The use of many hooks for this rig, rather than one, will prove more effective as the bait will look more natural and attractive to the fish. After casting this rig and giving it enough time to sink, the angler then reels in the slack line slowly to lure and catch fish.

Another technique that is popular with anglers when lake fishing from shore, is to cast many lures at different spots while walking along the shore. However, as shorelines usually have bushes, this technique may not be possible as such bushes will make walking and angling difficult. Lake fishing using these techniques is a wonderful way to enjoy a relaxed weekend.

There is nothing more important than choosing the right fishing tools. There are hundreds of different fishing tools to choose from but a few that are really essentials. Do not worry about having to spend an arm and a leg just to get what you need because there are lots of fishing tools you will not need right from the start. All the fishermen you see with every fishing tool and gadget imaginable have probably been working their way up to that point over years of fishing experience.

Your fishing rod is one of your largest and most important Fishing tools. This is what you attach your fishing line on to and use to actually catch the fish. Look for a flexible rod that is not going to break if you get that big catch you have been dreaming of, and also set a budget for yourself to ensure you do not go overboard with spending. It is easy to get carried away with all the different high end brand names and fancy features available on fishing rods these days.

Also for fishing tools you need some tackle. This is what goes on the end of your fishing line to attract the fish and get them to latch onto the hook. All fishermen should have a decent selection of tackle to choose from, so there is a variety and you can switch it up as you hunt for different types of fish. Darker colored hues are better when fishing in clear water, because the lightness of the water will cause the lighter shades of lure to blend in.

If you are looking to catch some larger fish, always bring along fresh bait. Also for fishing tools you will want to have a tackle box. You never know when you are going to need a new one and do not want to end up in the middle of the water on a fishing trip only to find that you are out of lures. You will not have to worry about wasting time fishing through your tackle box trying to find what you need.

There are lots of accessories that are extra but helpful. Make sure you have everything you need, at least all the basic fishing tools before heading out on the water. Once you are all geared up you will feel ready to hit the open water and can start on your fishing adventures. These are all the best fishing tools and as time goes on you can continue to add more pieces to your fishing gear collection.

People of all ages can go Fishing and is a great way for parents to hang out with their children and get them outdoors having fun. There are a few different basic pieces of fishing gear you will need to start with. One is the fishing rod and this is going to be your largest and most expensive piece of fishing equipment in most cases.

Picking out quality fishing equipment is not going to magically make you a better fisherman but it will allow you to have the best chances of catching any fish. Focus on your fishing rod first and make sure you choose one that is quite flexible. There are certain brand names of fishing rod that you want to stick to such as Berkley, All Star, Powell and Shimano which are reputable companies offering quality fishing rods. You never know what the weather conditions are going to turn out like, whether some lures are going to break or get lost and so on. The Bomber Long A is a perfect example of a more universal lure, one which can attract everything from walleye to largemouth bass.

Most fishermen prefer to use a tackle box so they have a way to keep their fishing tackle safely secured and organized. It will help you keep all of your tackle organized and protected so it will last and you can find what you are looking for more easily. You only have so much time on the water each day and you want to make the most of it. This is the part that attaches onto your fishing rod and which holds the fishing line.

There are literally thousands of different makes, styles and colors of reel to choose from today. Your fishing reel should be decently sized and the larger fish you plan on hunting, the larger reel you should purchase. Obviously the smaller fish you are hunting, the smaller and less complex reel you will need. To follow a fly fishing guide properly, getting yourself geared up is the first step before you can go out on any fishing trips.
