Hook More Fish With These Lake Fishing Techniques
Of the many leisure sport activities today, fishing is perhaps the most relaxing and popular. Although it can be done anywhere - in the sea, a flowing stream or river, lake fishing is the favorite option with most anglers. Lake fishing can be done in two ways - boat fishing and fishing from shore. Both these options for lake fishing involve different techniques.
Fishing from a boat - is extremely effective and relaxing among the two lake fishing options. Casting, forward and back-trolling, employing down riggers and drift fishing are some of the techniques used for boat fishing. Although different techniques work better for different types of fish, trolling is the most popular technique anglers choose while fishing off a boat. Trolling is when the boat moves forward slowly, pulling a single lure or several lures behind it. Back trolling and forward trolling are more or less the same, however, the difference between the two is that in back trolling, the boat moves in reverse and considerably slower in speed.
Trolling motors are fitted to most boats, and because of their near-silent nature, anglers are able to traverse the lake silently and slowly without perturbing the fish. Anglers find it more convenient to cast lures in places most likely to have more fish present when using boats fitted with trolling motors. Lake fishing off a boat is a great way to catch fish; however, as hiring a boat is an expensive proposition, try hiring a pontoon boat or inflatable kayak instead. These are not only cheaper than traditional boats; they are also just as effective.
Fishing from the shore - is what most anglers prefer to do, as it saves a lot of money on hiring or buying a boat. Among the different techniques used for fishing from shorelines, the most popular one is ?still fishing?. This is a technique in which the Fishing line is rigged with a sinker, hook/s with bait attached, and a stopper (floater). The stopper is situated on the line above the sinker and hook/s to prevent the sinker from descending to the bait. The use of many hooks for this rig, rather than one, will prove more effective as the bait will look more natural and attractive to the fish. After casting this rig and giving it enough time to sink, the angler then reels in the slack line slowly to lure and catch fish.
Another technique that is popular with anglers when lake fishing from shore, is to cast many lures at different spots while walking along the shore. However, as shorelines usually have bushes, this technique may not be possible as such bushes will make walking and angling difficult. Lake fishing using these techniques is a wonderful way to enjoy a relaxed weekend.
